Divinity: Release date speculation and what to expect from Larian's next game
Larian's biggest game ever is still likely a while away.

Larian has unveiled what it has been working on since the immense success of Baldur's Gate 3 in 2023 and it is a new entry in the Divinity series. Unrelated to any of the other games, including the Original Sin sub-franchise, Divinity is a gory, gruesome, and immense RPG descirbed as Larian's biggest game to date.
While we only have a teaser trailer, we do have some lore details on the mysterious statue shown at the end of the trailer, which was used to hype up the reveal.
Here is when we may see Divinity release and what you can expect from it.
Divinity release date speculation
Divinity's release date is currently unknown, but if we were to speculate it won't release until 2028 or 2029 at the earliest. Larian are building their biggest game yet and Baldur's Gate 3 only released two and a half years ago.
While the studio has staffed up dramatically, Larian's success with their previous game means they are unlikely to rush development of their next blockbuster RPG. On top of that, given we don't have platforms yet and the game's trailer was a CGI tone piece, it suggests Divinity is a long way off from hitting your PC or console, possibly even being one of the first next-gen games announced.
Larian will probably go quiet for a while now, but expect to hear more in 2026 or 2027, where hopefully we get a rough release window for Divinity.

What to expect from Divinity
Divinity is described as Larian unchaining "its ambitions to bring you an RPG with greater breadth and depth than ever before." That is a bold statement and Sven Vincke, founder and game director at Larian Studios, backs it up:
"Despite our long history with the series, this is our first game entitled ‘Divinity.’ We’re ready to bring everything we’ve done previously into one place. This marks the beginning of something with more breadth, depth, and intimacy than anything we’ve created before. We’ve been building toward this moment ever since we took our fate into our own hands. This is the Divinity we’ve always wanted to make and you're going to have loads of fun with it."
All of this points to a game with more player choice, character customisation, build crafting, and the ability to shape your own stories in ways beyond what Baldur's Gate 3 offered.
Details are vague, but the mysterious statue is called the Hellstone according to Larian's publishing director Michael Douse. Detailed in a tweet, it appears to be a central part of Divinity's lore and story, as the burning effigy in the trailer appears to be a celebration or tradition of sorts. As mentioned, details are vague and a lot of this speculative right now, so we will have to wait to hear more from Larian.
We will keep this article updated as new information arrives.
