Murder, She Wrote reboot is in the works as Hollywood A-lister confirms plans to play Jessica Fletcher
Jamie Lee Curtis is set to take on the role made iconic by Angela Lansbury.

Almost 30 years after Murder, She Wrote came to an end, the detective series is set to get a film reboot, with Jamie Lee Curtis confirming the plans.
Curtis, known for her roles in the Halloween franchise, Knives Out and Everything Everywhere All at Once, has revealed that she is in talks to play Jessica Fletcher, saying that the film reboot "is happening" and that she's "very excited".
Curtis was speaking at the premiere for her new film Freakier Friday when she was asked about the chances that she would play Angela Lansbury's iconic character.
She told: Entertainment Tonight: "Oh, it’s… happening. We’re a minute away, but yeah, very excited. Very excited. But I’m tamping down my enthusiasm until we start shooting.
"I have a couple of other things to hustle, but then I’ll get to enjoy that work."

It was first reported back in December that Curtis was in early talks to star in the film, which comes from Universal Pictures and is being produced by Phil Lord, Chris Miller and Amy Pascal.
The original Murder, She Wrote series ran for 12 seasons and four TV movies between 1984 and 1996. It followed Jessica Fletcher, a mystery writer and amateur detective who helped to solve murders in her fictional town of Cabot Cove, as well as elsewhere.
Jessica was played by Angela Lansbury, who passed away in 2022 at the age of 96.
Nothing is currently known about the plot of the new movie, but the script has been written by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo.

Curtis's new film, Freakier Friday, sees her reprise her role as Tess in a sequel to 2003's body-swap comedy Freaky Friday, with Lindsay Lohan also returning as her daughter Anna.
The synopsis for the new film says: "Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice."
