Review

A star rating of 2 out of 5.

In a not too distant dystopian future (2039, to be precise) mass entertainment is provided by Big Brother-like cameras trained 24 hours a day on prison inmates, financed by product placement of the food they eat and clothes they wear, plus pay-per-view subscriptions to behind-bars bare knuckle fights. When the big star of the broadcasts, Hardin Jones (Jamie Draven), escapes with the help of a group of anonymous anarchists led by his brother (Will Rothhaar), the authorities aim to quell the growing unrest by any means. Writer/director Suzie Halewood (credited here as SA Halewood) paints this grim world with sepia filters and fast cuts, but the visual panache can't hide a plodding, confusing narrative that struggles to engage the viewer. The cast is uniformly wooden, save for Linus Roache as an acid-tongued businessman desperate to protect his investment and keep the cons on air.
