Our Score
The third film to be adapted from Veronica Roth's young adult series sees Tris (Shailene Woodley) and her lover Four (Theo James) break out of Chicago, only to find that a new and uncertain reality awaits them. Following the dreary Insurgent, this instalment throws a lot of impressive effects and action at the screen, but achieves just as little. The more Tris and her companions learn about their world, the more the film is thrown back onto old storylines and themes - another warehouse, another faction, all feeling more or less like the ones before. While we're certain Woodley's committed lead is a hero, the various plot twists make it less clear who the villain is, or what exactly the good guys are fighting for. While the amped-up visuals and new cast members are fun (Jeff Daniels is a particular highlight), ultimately this is a confusing addition to a muddled saga.

Rebels fighting for freedom in a strictly ordered society escapes from the walled city they live in. They find themselves in a strange and dangerous new world, where they face a battle for their own survival and of those they have left behind. Third in the sci-fi adventure series based on Veronica Roth's novels, starring Shailene Woodley, Theo James and Naomi Watts.
