Fans of the BBC1 soap know that Nick cut the brake cables on the vehicle that smashed through the Square, killing Emma Summerhayes and landing Ronnie in hospital. But police attention has so far been focused on Phil Mitchell, who will soon be charged with attempted murder.

However, Charlie will face fresh trauma next week when medics tell him that Ronnie might never regain consciousness. And all the while Nick is fuelling Charlie’s resentment by reminding him that Phil is responsible for the entire situation.

Back on the Square, Charlie flies into a rage with Ben and starts punching Phil’s son until Yvonne arrives on the scene to drag him away. Shocked by Charlie’s violent outburst, Yvonne lets slip that it’s actually Nick who is to blame for the car crash.

Charlie is horrified at his mother’s revelations and when he quizzes her about how long she has known, Yvonne lies – not wanting to let on about the part she played.

Charlie confronts Nick who swears on the baby’s life that Yvonne is lying and as Nick slowly twists the situation, Yvonne desperately tries to prove that she’s telling the truth. Who will Charlie believe?
