The world of wrestling has always had an air of mystery around it, with kayfabe (the art of portraying staged wrestling performances as genuine) being crucial to the success of the WWE and beyond.

But 2025 marks a brand new era, as Triple H has welcomed cameras behind the scenes for an unfiltered look at how the epic shows are brought to life in a new Netflix documentary, WWE: Unreal.

Fans will be welcomed into the writer's room as Triple H (Paul Levesque) discusses developments that need to happen on Raw, Smackdown and PLEs to ensure the stories he wants to tell are told.

Viewers also see decisions made to propel certain wrestlers to new heights and the incredible secrecy around John Cena's infamous heel turn.

Chelsea Green, a superstar who appears in the documentary, has praised the move to be more transparent, claiming it's important in 2025 to lift the veil in a time of AI, deep fakes and beyond.

"We've got the Attitude Era, we've got the Netflix Era – I think this is the Reality Era because on top of us pulling back the curtain and you getting a better look at how we create these storylines, we've been adding a lot more content, like LFG (Legends & Future Greats) and Cody's [Rhodes] podcast, so you're seeing the real us in a lot of different ways.

"I think this is an era of just brutal honesty. It's really important to show we're all humans!"

Green found the process natural, as she's been showcasing her life and times to her fans via her social media channels for years.

"WWE asked me right before the new year [to be a part of Unreal], and I didn't know what to expect, but one thing I did know is I already show you guys my whole life. You know my relationship with my husband, you know I'm building a new house... so to me, it wasn't that scary.

"I do think it's interesting that you're now going to see me at work because that's something I have had to keep private. The WWE universe is going to love it!"

WWE: Unreal is streaming now on Netflix. Sign up for Netflix from £5.99 a month. Netflix is also available on Sky Glass and Virgin Media Stream.
