Premier League predictions this weekend – Matchweek 28
Friday 27 February
Wolves v Aston Villa (8pm) Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Premier League
MP: 1-0 Aston Villa win. It would be easy to get misty-eyed about Wolves following their perceived improvement under Rob Edwards, but the fact remains, two of their three victories in 11 matches across all competitions in 2026 have come against Shrewsbury and Grimsby. Improved? Yes. A good football team? No. Villa will get the job done close to home.
Saturday 28 February
Bournemouth v Sunderland (12:30pm) TNT Sports 1
MP: 2-0 Bournemouth win. Sunderland's mission is virtually accomplished this season, but their recent slide – punctuated by conceding three goals in each of their last three Premier League away matches – is a real cause for concern. They've suffered injuries to key players – Brian Brobbey and Nordi Mukiele are the latest – and limp down to Bournemouth looking worse for wear.
Burnley v Brentford (3pm) Not televised
MP: 2-1 Burnley win. UPSET OF THE WEEK. Unbelievably, Burnley could yet detonate the relegation battle with a victory at Turf Moor this weekend. With sides above them stuck in treacle, the Clarets could move to within five points of safety by the end of Sunday. All it takes is a small injection of hope to ignite a spark to ignite a movement. Brentford are enjoying a superb campaign, but have lost the second highest number of matches among the top 15 teams this term.
Liverpool v West Ham (3pm) Not televised
MP: 2-1 Liverpool win. The Reds are finding their groove, totting up three wins-to-nil against Premier League opponents in their last three outings. Their next three top-flight matches are against teams in the bottom five and they'll be determined to make the most of that run. West Ham have tightened up, but still lack cutting edge to force victories over the line.
Newcastle v Everton (3pm) Not televised
MP: 1-0 Newcastle win. The Magpies are doing everything they can to avoid doing well in the Premier League this term. They should be exploiting the weakness of Chelsea and Liverpool this term, but instead they're wasting time loitering around mid-table with little urgency to escape the tightly-congested pack. That said, Everton are also not going anywhere fast. Surely Newcastle have enough to record a home win here?
Leeds v Man City (5:30pm) Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Premier League
MP: 3-0 Man City win. Leeds have ruffled feathers and upset a bunch of big teams at Elland Road this season. Expect that to be the narrative going into this one, but also expect City to ignore the noise and punch in a champions performance. Nobody does it quite like City in springtime. They have the bit between their teeth and will push Arsenal to the end.

Sunday 1 March
Brighton v Nottingham Forest (2pm) Sky Sports TBC
MP: 1-1 draw. Brighton's demise has been largely overlooked thanks to the likes of Tottenham falling off a cliff. They have looked jaded and uninventive for large spells of the campaign, lacking an identity or style. They face a jumbled mess of a Nottingham Forest team that also doesn't really know what it wants to be. Expect a sloppy draw.
Fulham v Tottenham (2pm) Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Premier League
MP: 1-0 Fulham. Every time it appears Fulham are losing it, Marco Silva gets them back on track. They did a proper job on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light last weekend and will fancy a home win against a hapless Spurs side going nowhere fast. Can you pick out a single ray of light for Tottenham fans right now? I can't. Igor Tudor is their last roll of the dice. Defeat here would place them squarely in harm's way. And they'd deserve to be there.
Man Utd v Crystal Palace (2pm) Sky Sports TBC
MP: 3-1 Man Utd win. You have to admire how simple it has been for Michael Carrick to get United cooking again. Four at the back, solid midfield base, Bruno Fernandes playing in his proper position, wingers playing as wingers, a striker through the middle. It has been a masterpiece in realising you don't need a total overhaul to get results out of good football players. Carrick has kept things relatively simple and effective, players know their jobs, and they know they stand a good chance of winning again here.
Arsenal v Chelsea (4:30pm) Sky Sports Main Event / Sky Sports Premier League
MP: 3-1 Arsenal win. Arsenal weren't losing that match to Spurs. There is no AI simulation in any galaxy in any universe that would have seen Spurs overcome them with the title on the line and Manchester City gaining. The Gunners are a mature team capable of grinding out results and exploiting weaknesses at the right moments. Chelsea still feel prone to wandering and won't show the immense poise required to beat Arsenal over 90 minutes.
