Pluribus season 2 gets release update from series creator – and it's not good news
"We're working on it."

With acclaimed sci-fi series Pluribus having now wrapped up its first season on Apple TV, creator Vince Gilligan has addressed when we might expect the second season to be released – and it seems like fans could have quite the wait on their hands.
The series has emerged as one of the biggest hits of the year, having earned two nominations at the Golden Globe awards, and follows follows novelist Carol Sturka (Rhea Seehorn), the seemingly sole survivor of an alien virus that transforms the rest of humanity into a hive mind.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about the progress of season 2, Gilligan admitted that development is moving slowly. He explained: "We're working on it. It takes us a while. I would love to go faster if I could."
Executive producer of Pluribus, Gordon Smith, added: “You know how on a timeline, there's usually an arrow that points towards infinity?
"Well, I think we're on the arrow somewhere.”

At present, there is no set start date for filming on season 2. According to Forbes, production isn't set to begin until at least spring of 2026, meaning there will likely be a significant gap between the two seasons.
The possibility of a lengthy wait for the second season might not prove that surprising for fans, with long hiatuses between seasons of television becoming increasingly common – often due to high expenses and overlapping cast schedules.
Recently, Gilligan also spoke to RadioTimes.com about the pressure of following up his acclaimed shows Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul with a completely new project.
He explained: "I'm very much feeling the pressure. It would have been safer doing something else in the Breaking Bad universe.
"And I was tempted, because I love that world so much. I loved writing for Walter White.

"But I just wanted to prove to myself that I wasn't necessarily a one-trick pony, and I wanted to write a good guy after about 20 years...
"But now, after almost 20 years of that, I'm thinking, 'How do I break free of things I've been doing?' And I figured it was time for a change."
For now, fans of Pluribus will just have to exercise their patience while they wait for Gilligan and co to finish up the next chapter – and at least season 1 is still there to watch on repeat.
Pluribus is available to stream on Apple TV.
