2. Midnight (2008)

Psychological thrills abound when a tour vehicle breaks down on planet Midnight. An invisible entity possesses passenger Sky Silvestry, who repeats all the Doctor’s words, then speaks them simultaneously, then says them before he does.

Mia Birgitte Dahlstrøen Grendal says Midnight is definitely the spookiest episode because "we can't actually see the real monster and the Doctor has no idea how to combat it, and when it slowly takes over it's creepy! How it starts with knocking outside etc. Also the poem that is recited in the episode makes it extra creepy."

"The monster is terrifying in itself," says Timothy Collins, "but it's made much worse by the fact that the Doctor succumbs and would have been doomed if it weren't for someone else."

Alice Amy Hardy plumped for Midnight because it reminded her that "humans can be capable of a lot of things when they're scared. And we never found out what it was. Great episode!".

"You never know what truly happened," says Autumn Gieb. "The repeating when she catches up to him always gives me the chills. Oh, I'm breaking out my DVD copy tonight."
