Doctor Who fans call for Sex Education legend to be cast as the Doctor after SNL sketch
The latest episode of SNL has given fans food for thought.

After Aimee Lou Wood's highly-praised episode of Saturday Night Live UK featured a Doctor Who sketch, plenty of fans have been calling for her to be cast as the next Time Lord.
The Sex Education and White Lotus star hosted this week's edition of the show, appearing in various comedy sketches - but perhaps the most talked about one was a parody of the beloved sci-fi series.
Wood appeared as a companion in the sketch, alongside Hammed Animashaun's Doctor, with the pair exiting the TARDIS and encountering some intriguing aliens.
With Wood's Sex Education co-star Ncuti Gatwa playing the latest incarnation of the Doctor, fans have pointed out that the actress could be a brilliant casting choice for real.
"AIMEE LOU WOOD AS THE DOCTOR MAKE IT HAPPEN PLS," one fan said on X (formerly Twitter).

Another said: "Aimee Lou Wood could be a very good Doctor. Just saying," while one more added: "Aimee Lou Wood for the next Doctor please."
Gatwa, who played the Fifteenth Doctor, departed the TARDIS in the episode The Reality War, regenerating into returning star Billie Piper in a surprise twist. But it's never been confirmed that Piper's the Sixteenth Doctor, with fans wondering if there's something more going on with her story.

Lately, people have been having their say about who should play the Time Lord, with fans of comedian Alan Davies declaring it's "not too late" after he posted a photo of an old newspaper article that reported he was in contention for the role of the Ninth Doctor (which ended up going to Christopher Eccleston).
Thankfully, Doctor Who will be back at Christmas with a special written by showrunner Davies - so presumably more will be revealed then.
Saturday Night Live UK continues on Saturday 9 May at 10pm on Sky One and NOW – sign up to Sky TV to watch. Doctor Who will return at Christmas on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
