The streamer has confirmed that season 2 of the series, which is adapted from the beloved animated show, will arrive on 25 June 2026, and has shared a glimpse of what we can expect as things get more dangerous in the Earth Kingdom.

Alongside the release date announcement, Netflix shared a behind-the-scenes video, which shows the cast and crew exploring the incredible practical sets of Ba Sing Se.

Avatar: The Last Airbender follows youngster Aang (played by Gordon Cormier), as he masters the four elements to restore balance to a world threatened by the villainous Fire Nation.

Season 2 will introduce some new faces, including the blind earth-bending master Toph Beifong (played by Miyako), who trains Aang – but the pair don't always see eye to eye.

The show also has new showrunners for season 2, with Christine Boylan and Jabbar Raisani stepping in for Albert Kim.

As for what we can expect for our heroes? Raisani told Tudum: "Our goal for Season 1 was to introduce the audience to this group of characters that were kids in the middle of a war zone.

"And [in] Season 2, we take those kids and they grow. But growth is not a straight line. … They’re really trying to figure out who they are.”

Boylan has also teased that things will be getting darker for Aang and co in the series, which has already wrapped production on its third and final season.

“I’m a big fan of the dark centre of a trilogy,” she said. “So why shouldn’t we go hard? Why should we go easy? We have to go full bore."

The pair previously said of season 2: "We’re looking forward to working with all of our actors again and digging into the deeper, more complicated relationships that develop as their journey continues in Season 2.

"We are going to show the real-world versions of iconic scenes from the original, and explore some of the stories that the animation didn’t. Mainly, we’re looking forward to seeing our gang all together again."
