The Traitors Ireland was filmed in County Meath, Ireland, with the contestants living in Slane Castle – an 18th century venue, located in Boyne Valley, overlooking the River Boyne. It is situated just a few miles upstream from the site of the famous Battle of the Boyne.

It was built in the neo-Gothic style and sits in an 1,500 acre estate that spans both banks of the river. The estate is home to the 90-acre organic farm Rock Farm, which has rare breeds whilst Slane Irish Whiskey Distillery is also situated on the site.

The castle has been owned by the Conyngham family since the 1700s. Alex Burton Conyngham, Earl of Mount Charles currently lives in the castle with his wife, the Countess Carina, and their children.

In 1991, a fire broke out at the castle and destroyed almost a third of the property but after almost a decade of restoration it was reopened in 2001.

Can you stay at the castle from The Traitors Ireland?

Yes! You are able to stay over night in the castle from The Traitors Ireland in its The Slane Castle Suite, which can offer as much as 5 bedrooms and be booked privately.

While Slane Castle is not currently open to the general public, throughout January to March, you are able to book Afternoon Tea at the castle which promises to have a "traitorous twist".

It is also possible to privately hire the venue, for a wedding or corporate event, with its rooms and grounds able to accommodate upwards of 250 people.

The castle also frequently acts as music venue with bands such as U2, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Guns ‘N Roses, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, David Bowie, Queen and REM having performed there.

The natural amphitheatre in the castle grounds has an 80,000 person capacity.
