Seth Rogen reveals the one storyline he pushed for most in Platonic season 2
Rogen and his co-star Rose Byrne spoke exclusively with Radio Times.
The first season of Platonic certainly didn't close the book on its storyline, but it did bring things to a happy, settled end. However, fans certainly weren't complaining when the show was renewed for season 2, meaning more misadventures for best friend Will and Sylvia, played by Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne.
Radio Times caught up with Rogen and Byrne ahead of season 2 airing, and asked where the stars wanted to take their characters in season 2. For Rogen, he had just one clear pitch – and it involved Sylvia's best friend Katie, played by Carla Gallo.
Rogen said of season 2: "They had an idea, [creators] Nick [Stoller] and Francesca [Delbanco] had a take. I did think it would be funny if my character and Carla's character should become romantically involved in some capacity.
"That was just something I thought would be very funny, and they brought it to life in a very brief and hilarious way, I think. But yeah, the episode where I'm living with her is one of the crazier episodes."

Byrne then added: "They had to take for sure, to Seth’s point, of where it could go. How do you keep it going? Where is the conflict of season two? How do you keep the tension of that friendship? Is it going to be a totally destructive, ridiculous friendship again, or can they be… and there’s more about adulting in this one."
Rogen said that the characters are "trying to be more responsible" in season 2, while Byrne emphasised "trying to be".
Platonic season 2 also brings back Luke Macfarlane as Sylvia's husband Charlie, while guest stars set to join for the new run include Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett.
The synopsis for season says that it "picks up with everyone’s favourite pair of best friends as they contend with new midlife hurdles, including work, weddings and partners in crises".
"The duo tries their best to be each other’s rock," the synopsis says. "But sometimes rocks break things."
Platonic season 2 will start streaming on Apple TV+ from Wednesday 6th August — you can sign up to Apple TV+ here.
