The Steam Machine is potentially the most highly anticipated bit of kit in gaming right now.

Even beyond the PlayStation 6 and whatever Xbox is doing, the prospect of Half-Life 3 has gamers' mouths watering at the upcoming Steam Machine.

But with no official confirmation on price, and an apparent leaked price now making the rounds, here's what you need to know about the cost of Valve's new hardware.

Has the Steam Machine price leaked? Latest rumours explained

At the time of writing, Valve has still not confirmed the official price of the Steam Machine, but it may have accidentally leaked, thanks to one retailer.

Czech retailer Smarty, an authorised seller of Valve products in Europe, has listings on its website for both the 512GB and 2TB versions of the Steam Machine, though no price is listed.

However, as discovered by Clawsomegamer, prices for both appeared to be present in the website's source code, listing the two models at 19,826 CZK and 22,305 CZK respectively.

This comes out to roughly £708 / $953 / €816 for the 512GB model and £796 / $1072 / €918 for the 2TB model.

So, what does this actually mean? Well, if you're worried that this sounds too expensive for you, you shouldn't give up on your Steam Machine dreams just yet.

Clawsomegamer notes that Smarty is a third-party seller, and reportedly places, on average, a 17 per cent markup on the products it sells.

Furthermore, they note that Smarty may not have the official pricing from Valve just yet, with these internal prices simply being internal estimates, and not final prices.

Naturally, this is all still speculation. While our own predicted Steam Machine price is a bit lower than this, it is certainly not out of the question to see the Steam Machine retail at these prices, especially once you factor in the recent spike in the price of RAM.

But for now, this is the best we've got, so while we should remain sceptical about this news, we shouldn't necessarily discount it either.
