One of many hallmarks of the Pokémon series is evolution, but do Pokémon evolve in Pokémon Pokopia?

Of course, plenty of mechanics haven't made their way into the game, such as shiny Pokémon, but that creature collection aspect has stayed!

So, if you have a particular favourite Pokémon on your island and are wondering if you can evolve it, here's what you need to know!

Do Pokémon evolve in Pokémon Pokopia?

Pokémon do not evolve in Pokémon Pokopia. However, that doesn't mean there are no evolved forms of Pokémon in the game.

The way Pokopia's creature collection works is that you have to build a Habitat to attract a specific Pokémon to it.

That means every single Pokémon in the game has its own means of being found, and perhaps more importantly, there is only one copy of each individual Pokémon in the game.

So, if you've already attracted a Slowpoke and a Slowbro to your island, for example, if you then evolved your Slowpoke, you would now have two Slowbro and no way to get another Slowpoke.

To prevent this happening, there's simply one of each Pokémon and no evolution.

You can think of it as each Pokémon basically being an NPC that doesn't change at all, as opposed to a member of your team that you can interact with.

Perhaps the developers will add evolution to Pokopia at some point in the future, but we think that it's fairly unlikely as it would clash too much with the core gameplay loop.
