Furfrou was added to Pokémon Go back in 2021, but the method to change the Poodle Pokémon into one of its alternative Trim forms can be a challenge for those who aren’t in the know.

Each trim is only an aesthetic change with no effect on gameplay, but knowing the specifics around each form is essential if you’re a collector who wants to add these to your Pokedex.

Here’s the full list of Furfrou forms in Pokémon Go, along with exactly how to change yours to a different trim.

Outside of its base 'Natural Form', there are currently nine Furfrou ‘trim’ forms available in Pokémon Go, but the majority of them are region-exclusive, meaning you’ll have to trade or travel to other countries to get them all; each Furfrou form and its availability are as follows:

Dandy and Matron Trims — available worldwide
Debutante Trim — available in Americas & Greenland
Diamond Trim — available only in Europe (includes UK), Middle East & Africa
Heart Trim — available during select Valentine’s Day events
Kabuki Trim — available in Japan
La Reine Trim — available in France
Pharaoh Trim — available in Egypt
Star Trim — available in Asia-Pacific region

Whilst you can indeed seek a trade with a Pokemon Go player whose managed to get a Furfrou form in a different region, the Heart Trim is undoubtedly the most difficult, as it’s been only made available either during the 2022 Valentine’s Day event, or 2024’s Carnival of Love event, which took place between the 13th and 15th of February that year.

Whether Heart Trim Furfrou will be available around Valentine’s Day 2026 remains to be seen, but be sure to get as many as you can if it does, so you can trade with friends if need be.

How to change Furfrou forms in Pokémon Go

Furfrou in Pokemon Go after make three change into their Dandy, Matron, and Diamond Trim forms, by pressing the 'Change Form' button — Furfrou can easily change form to a different 'Trim' in Pokémon Go by paying Stardust and Candy Niantic/Scopely/Radio Times Gaming

In order to transform your Furfrou into a different trim in Pokémon Go, you need to select the ‘Change Form’ button in its summary page in your storage; by paying 10,000 Stardust and 25 Furfrou Candy, you can select and change your Furfrou into any of the trims available to you — depending on location and potential event unlocks.

Each Furfrou trim change will cost another 10,000 Stardust and 25 Candy, so be sure you’re 100 percent on the form you’ve selected.

Can Furfrou be Shiny?

Yes, Furfrou can be Shiny in Pokémon Go; so, if you transform your Shiny base form Furfrou the specific trim you’ve chosen will be Shiny as well.
