Summary

The detective reflects on 1984 when the team are flown to the Hebridean islands to investigate the death of a man found in a block of ice

Review

Jane Rackham

George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984 is Annika’s literary touchstone after a man’s body entombed in a block of ice is found floating between the Hebridean islands of Jura (where Orwell wrote the book) and Islay. As she warns in one of her trademark to-camera pieces, someone is always watching you, Big Brother-style.

While the Maritime Homicide Unit, including newbie DC Harper Weston (Varada Sethu), is investigating who’s been iced and then who did it, Annika bumps into an old flame. He is not, it turns out, in her personal Room 101.

First shown on U&Alibi in 2023.
