Episode 6: The Interstellar Song Contest

Summary

The Time Lord's quest to get Belinda back home to Earth leads to a space station hosting the 803rd Interstellar Song Contest, where planets from across the universe compete for the top prize. But a harmless night of music soon becomes a battle to survive. Guest starring Rylan, Freddie Fox and Graham Norton

Review

David Brown

Risk has always been part of the Doctor’s business, but with this episode sandwiched between the FA Cup final and Eurovision, there’s more jeopardy than in an average week. As show boss Russell T Davies has acknowledged, if the football over-runs, then there may not be time for the Time Lord on BBC1 before we head live to Switzerland.

All being well though, there’ll still be space in the schedule: after all, this adventure serves as a companion piece to Eurovision, featuring as it does the Interstellar Song Contest of 2925, with specially created hits from composer Murray Gold and a host in the form of Rylan, whose enthusiasm remains undimmed despite the passing of centuries.
