The acts and judges may change but one thing has remained constant on The X factor — the familiar voice of Peter Dickson. For eleven years, the voice-over artist has worked as the announcer on the ITV talent show, and although not many would recognise his face, to millions of his booming tones are unmistakable.
But that’s all about to change with the news that Dickson has left the show and will not be voicing the upcoming 12th series.
Writing on Twitter, he said: “After the best 11 years with the X Factor, it’s time for me to check out and cut loose.”
After the best 11 years with the X Factor, it's time for me to check out and cut loose.
It is unclear at this stage what is behind his decision to leave The X Factor – a statement is expected from ITV shortly – but fans of the programme responded with sadness to the announcement, many saying that the show would lose its own X Factor without him.
@peterdickson sorry to see you go. You have been the best thing about the show for years.
