Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

From Alfie director Lewis Gilbert comes this PoW drama about a mannequin nicknamed Albert that supposedly stands in for escaped prisoners. A huge hit at the time, it still has bags of charm and a degree of tension, though a starrier cast than the wooden Anthony Steel and American expats like William Sylvester would have helped considerably. One looks in vain for Jack Hawkins and Dickie Attenborough. But all is not lost: Anton Diffring plays a Nazi.
