Many of the events at the Winter Olympics are all about speed but in figure skating, it's elegance, precision, and creativity that matter above all else.

The competitors gliding around the rink at the Milano Ice Skating Arena are more than just athletes; they're performers who will jump, spin, step, throw, lift, and spiral in a bid to impress the judges.

It's been 22 years since the iconic Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean won Team GB's last figure skating medal but the feeling is that the Brits could be back on the podium this year.

The United States are tipped to be the dominant force across all categories, however, and all eyes will be on the Olympic debut of American star Ilia Malinin – nicknamed Quad God because he is able to land skating's toughest jump, the quadruple axel.

RadioTimes.com brings you our guide to figure skating at the Winter Olympics 2026.

When is Winter Olympics 2026 figure skating?

Figure skating at the Winter Olympics starts on Thursday 6th February, with the beginning of the team event.

The competition concludes with the Women's free skating on Thursday 19th February, before the figure skating at Milano-Cortina 2026 concludes with the exhibition gala (a non-competitive performance from a number of the top skaters) on Saturday 21st February.

There is optimism that Milano-Cortina 2026 could deliver Team GB's first figure skating medal since 1994.

Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson, who are eight-time British champions and won World Championship bronze last year, will hope to follow in the skate marks of legendary British duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean when they compete in the ice dance.

Phebe Bekker and James Hernandez are also competing in the ice dance for Team GB, while Kristen Spours is going in the Women's singles, Anastasia Vaipan-Law and Luke Digby are in the pairs event, and Edward Appleby is part of the group for the team event.
