Emmerdale airs menacing twist for Robert Sugden in ITVX edition
Robert's been playing detective.

*Warning: Contains spoilers for Friday 25th July's episode of Emmerdale now available on ITVX*
Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) may regret playing detective in the latest edition of Emmerdale (Friday 25th July 2025).
Smelling a rat over the typed murder confession left behind by Owen Michaels (Simon Haines), who recently spiked him, Robert followed his instincts when he heard that his half-brother John (Oliver Farnworth) had visited Owen.
When Robert tracked down Owen's brother Steve (Siôn Eifion) on Thursday (24th July), he told him that he didn't believe the late Owen had killed Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).
Steve admitted that in fact, Owen had been with him in Hull at the time of the killing, and Robert insisted that the police needed to know of this alibi.
But Steve explained that the job he and Owen had been doing at the time was illegal, so he wasn't planning on telling the authorities anything.

Shocked that Steve didn't seem interested in clearing his brother's name, Robert urged him simply to leave out the details of anything dodgy with the police.
He asked Steve to let him know the outcome, but as Emmerdale continues, Robert heads to the police station himself.
His determination to get involved is all tied to his suspicions over John, and fans know that Robert is right on the money here because John caused Nate's death and disposed of his body in the lake.
In the weeks since Nate was discovered, John has tried framing widow Tracy (Amy Walsh), and when that didn't stick, he framed Owen.
Robert is about to lay out his theory that John is behind this sinister turn of events, but this backfires on him in a major way.
You'll have to watch the episode on ITVX now, or at 7.30pm on ITV1 for the full story.
But Robert soon faces a threat, warning him off his mission.
How scared should Robert be at this point?
We'd say very, as next week sees John step up his own vendetta against Robert when he plants spyware inside Keeper's cottage.
When John listens in on his conversations and gets some dirt on Robert, what will he do next - and what does he know about Robert?
