Coronation Street airs surprise outcome for Dev and Bernie wedding in dramatic ITVX release

A series of disasters derails the nuptials, with Bernie and stepson-to-be Aadi (Adam Hussain) already having lost the chance to pay off the shop's debts using Aunty Rani's (Josephine Lloyd-Welcome) money after Bernie and Dev stood up to her snobbery.

On the big day, the quads have to miss out on the celebrations due to a sickness bug, so Joseph Brown (William Flanagan) offers to set up a live stream.

Then Bernie is late to the venue as she has forgotten her lucky charm locket, which contains a photo of her late son Paul Foreman (Peter Ash).

When she heads to the Alahan house to fetch it, Bernie disturbs a burglar, and this confrontation leads to another delay when Bernie takes action.

At the Bistro, Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) keeps the guests entertained with a frankly sparkling rendition of Hopelessly Devoted to You and a proposal to Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan).

But it's not long before Bernie arrives at long last, greeted by younger son Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).

Bernie and Dev are the picture of happiness as they begin the ceremony, until Bernie struggles to breathe and collapses!

Dev is by her side as his daughter, trainee paramedic Asha (Tanisha Gorey), supports her, and Bernie's daughter Gemma Winter-Brown (Dolly-Rose Campbell) calls an ambulance.

Later, Asha rounds up the family to join Dev and Bernie at the hospital, and what follows is an unexpected but enjoyable end to a turbulent day.

While a few secrets are revealed, there are some touching moments for Bernie in what serves as a strong midweek instalment of the ITV soap, which you can catch in full now on ITVX or at 8pm on ITV1.
