Stranger Things: Tales from '85 has taken us back to Hawkins, with the gang back in business to face a supernatural force threatening the town.

The series, set in between seasons 2 and 3 of the original show, sees Eleven and co (voiced by an entirely new cast) on an intriguing new adventure, alongside new character Nikki Baxter (voiced by Odessa A'zion).

Showrunner Eric Robles told Radio Times that, while the original series offered up world-threatening stakes by season 5, he and the Duffer Brothers (who executive produced the new show) wanted to scale it back for the animated adventure.

"We wanted to really kind of focus on kids being kids, riding bikes, solving mysteries with their walkie talkies and flashlights," he said.

But, with all episodes out now, will Stranger Things: Tales from '85 be back for a season 2?

Will there be a Stranger Things: Tales from '85 season 2?

While Stranger Things: Tales from '85 has not officially been renewed for a season 2, the idea has certainly not been ruled out.

Brooklyn Davey Norstedt, who voices Eleven, exclusively told Radio Times: "That would be amazing. I know they definitely have ideas.

"I think, right now, they're really focused on the launch of season 1. I think it's going to be a great one for families to see together. We're just all very pumped for the first season, and if anything else comes from it, that would be great."

Showrunner Robles added to this during an interview with Radio Times when he said: "The hopes are, if we continue with the series, we'll make sure that we kind of tie it right back to the beginning of season 3 [of the original show]."

When could a potential Stranger Things: Tales from '85 season 2 be released?

It's difficult to say when a potential season 2 could be released, as we don't have a broadcast pattern to look at yet.

We do know that Tales from 85 has been in the works since at least 2022 and, considering the lengthy processes that can be involved in animation, we wouldn't expect to see a new instalment until around 2028.

Of course, that's just speculation at this stage and nothing has been confirmed.

Which cast members would return in a potential Stranger Things: Tales from 85 season 2?

We'd expect the main cast members from Tales from '85 to return, including:

  • Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven/Jane Hopper
  • Luca Diaz as Mike Wheeler
  • Braxton Quinney as Dustin Henderson
  • Elisha 'EJ' Williams as Lucas Sinclair
  • Benjamin Plessala as Will Byers
  • Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max Mayfield
  • Brett Gipson as Jim Hopper
  • Jeremy Jordan as Steve Harrington

What could a potential Stranger Things: Tales From '85 season 2 be about?

Technically, another season of Stranger Things could take place right after the first season, as Stranger Things season 3 doesn't start until the summer of 1985. It would presumably show the gang facing another supernatural threat and having to save Hawkins.

Season 1 of Tales from '85 didn't have an open and shut ending either, with a final shot showing new life blooming in the Upside Down, with more threats clearly on their way...
