With Netflix's new horror series, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, exploring our very worst fears about soulmates and committing to the wrong person, all eyes are on whether there will be a season 2.

The series, executive produced by the Duffer Brothers, marking their first project since the end of Stranger Things, sees Camila Morrone's Rachel faced with an increasing sense of dread as her wedding to Adam DiMarco's Nicky approaches.

The reason she's so on edge is revealed mid-season (with a scene featuring an unexpected guest star!), and culminates in a very dramatic and blood-soaked finale. But what, if anything, is next for her?

Radio Times spoke to showrunner Haley Z Boston to find out.

Will there be a Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen season 2?

Currently, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen has not been renewed for a second season – but showrunner Haley Z Boston isn't fully ruling it out.

Speaking exclusively to Radio Times, she said: "In my mind, it was always one [season], and it works as one.

"I think it's a complete story. Of course, it is a bit open ended – there's a world where the show exists as an anthology if I would be lucky enough to be able to continue that [but] it's such a personal story to me.

"I know that's kind of funny to say, because of what happens, but drawing from my own kind of fears, that's what excites me as a filmmaker. So I think I would need to kind of figure out what my next existential fear is in order to continue!"

Who could star in a Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen season 2?

If the show does return, it sounds like it would be an entirely different cast.

Considering how it ended, there's the possibility that Camila Morrone's Rachel Harkin could be back – however, as Boston says, her story may be at an end.
