Martine McCutcheon

Former EastEnders star Martine McCutcheon has been everywhere recently: she appeared in the Love Actually Comic Relief sequel as Prime Minister Hugh Grant's loving wife, and since last year she has been a regular panelist on ITV's Loose Women. This would be ideal timing for her to go on Strictly Come Dancing.

A little detective work also reveals that McCutcheon's UK tour for her new album Lost and Found in November neatly avoids any shows on a Saturday night – has she left space in her schedule to film Strictly at Elstree Studio?

Grayson Perry

The transvestite artist and Turner Prize winner has already said he'd be "tempted" to join Strictly Come Dancing, and had even talked to the producers about taking part.

More like this

“I've talked to the producers casually and I think the problem they would have is, how would I do it, because if I did it in a frock would I have a male partner?” he said in an interview with the Press Association. “Because when I dance - I like dancing - I dance as a man, I feel very male.”

But Perry said that while he'd want to do the BBC1 show as a man, he would still hope to dress in women's clothes for the special episodes. “My idea would be I went as a man, but when they did the Halloween special or the odd one I'd do it as a woman," he explained.

Could the timing be right for the BBC show to embrace a more fluid approach to male and female dance couples?
