Age: 52

Job: Crime writer and former barrister

Location: London

The Traitors is "one of the very few" reality shows that Harriet reckons she has the skill set for, having worked as a criminal barrister and now a crime writer.

"I spend my life making up horrible ways for people to die and killing people on the page," she said.

"The idea that I might get to actually plot to kill people or to track down a murderer, but, you know, without actual blood being shed, it's the closest that I'd get to that experience in real life. So quite honestly, what's not to like?"

Stephen

Stephen. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 32

Job: Cyber security consultant

Location: London

Stephen loves The Traitors, so much so that he has been re-watching past seasons to get into the headspace and "examine the certain things that people have done that were so normal to them but others found weird".

Judy

Age: 60

Job: Child Liaison Officer

Location: Doncaster

Judy applied for The Traitors because she thought she could do it and saw it as a "great opportunity to do it at [her] time of life".

She added: "I just think that the whole experience will be incredible, and I will never, ever experience anything like this again."

Ross

Age: 37

Job: Sales exec and personal trainer

Location: London

After some of his clients started talking about The Traitors, Ross applied for the show on a whim.

Asked what he thinks he'll bring to the show, Ross said: "I like to think I'm a good judge of character. I think it'll be a fun, interesting adventure, and a cool opportunity, I'm actually really excited."

Ellie

Ellie.
Ellie. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 33

Job: Psychologist

Location: London

For Ellie, she finds The Traitors to be "so psychologically interesting" and enjoys "analysing what everyone's doing and thinking through why they're convinced that they know something, when to the viewer, they're quite clearly wrong" when watching the show.

It was from that, she knew she "had to get involved" and understand the game for herself.

Netty

Netty. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 42

Job: Nursery school teacher

Location: Glasgow

Netty thinks The Traitors is "one of the most amazing games" someone could play, and wanted to do something for her and to have fun.

She explained: "Purely selfish reasons, but I just wanted to have some fun and do something that allowed me to get a little bit of myself back. I like delving into people and finding out about them, so I am excited to meet everyone and get to know them."

Fiona

Fiona. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 62

Job: Local government officer

Location: Swansea

Fiona has never applied for anything like The Traitors before, but decided to take the leap as she enjoys watching the show.

She explained: "I think it's the most authentic reality TV show, and I'm not big into reality TV. I think because it's a game which requires a lot of tact and a lot of psychological manoeuvres, it just appealed to me."

Jessie

A woman smiling ahead with one hand resting on her cheek. She is wearing an orange turtleneck and has bright red hair.
Jessie. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 28

Job: Hairstylist

Location: Hull

Jessie applied for The Traitors to challenge herself and allow her to meet new people.

"I know it will test me," she said. "Which is good and what I need."

Rachel

Job: Head of communications

Location: County Down

Rachel has played the game Mafia for 15 years and is a competitive person "through and through", and so she thought to give The Traitors a go.

She said: "I will do anything to win. Nothing's off the table. I'm very good at knowing the difference between reality and a game."

Amanda

Amanda.
Amanda. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 57

Job: Retired police detective

Location: Brighton

Amanda was immediately drawn to the game when she first watched The Traitors and thought it was something she could win.

Having been a detective, she has done lots of interviews with criminals and victims, and is able to "put the pieces together to find the truth and see through the lies".

She added: "To be a Traitor, you have to be good at lying, have a good poker face and be a master of deflection to prevent you being identified. I’ve learned a lot about being deceptive, devious and cunning.

"On the other side of the coin, I am a good person, and I became a police officer to help people. You have to be nice and calm, even when there's a big storm around you. I’d bring all these skills into the game, whichever role I am assigned."

Hugo

Hugo.

Age: 51

Job: Barrister

Location: London

Hugo is admittedly "obsessed with The Traitors" and has seen every episodes across the UK, US, Australia and New Zealand formats, adding that he finds it to be "such a fascinating game".

He said: "I’m a barrister so I talk to juries, but they go off and make the decisions in a quiet room so I never get to see it, but this, you just think, how could you be so wrong? I can't take my eyes off it, I love it."

Jade

A woman looking ahead with a serious expression.
Jade. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 25

Job: PhD Student

Jade plays a lot of video games which are similar to The Traitors so she thought "why would I not?" when she had the chance to apply for the show.

Age: 34

He explained: "It really kind of suits my character and I'm at the stage in my life now where I just want to have as many amazing experiences as possible. I applied on a whim, and then suddenly we're here."

Adam

Reece

A man looking ahead with one hand resting on his chin.
Reece. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 27

Job: Sweet shop assistant

Location: Sheffield

Reece has always been competitive and signed up for the show, because how many people can say they've been on The Traitors?

"I don’t think I’ve done anything in my life which is so unique, and because I also have that competitive edge, I’m excited to see what I’m able to do," he explained.

Maz

A man wearing a dark blue top and brown jacket, looking ahead with a slight smile.
Maz. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 59

Job: Civil servant

Location: Preston

Maz loves the essence of The Traitors, whether it be the missions, the conversations or the relationships made in the game, and so he applied.

"I'm 59 and I've done various things in my life, so I feel as though I've got good life experience," he added.

"I'm told that I'm good to get on with and I'm funny - my kids say I'm funny looking. I think I can bring some humour, some chilled out moments, some interesting thoughts, and I think I will be able to add to the jigsaw of the game."

Faraaz

A man smiling and looking ahead, wearing a light blue hoodie.
Faraaz. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Faraaz applied for The Traitors as he is a "huge fan" and after watching series one, he thought it would be something he'd love to be part of and immerse himself in.

Roxy

A woman smiling ahead, wearing a multicoloured blouse.
Roxy. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 32

The first six years of Roxy's life were rocky and, for her, having lived experiences of adapting to different situations, meeting new people and figuring out who to trust she believes will take her really far on the show.

Matthew

A man looking ahead with a serious expression on his face. He is wearing a light pink shirt.
Matthew. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 35

Job: Creative director

Matthew's new year's resolution was to have more adventures and while he meant more hiking, canoe trips and camping, he also gave a chance on applying for The Traitors.

Jack

Jack.
Jack. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 29

Job: Personal trainer

Location: Essex

Jack is a "massive fan" of The Traitors and wanted to do something that meant he'd have to step outside of his comfort zone.

Whether it's a mission or the roundtable, Jack believes you need to be "so switched on regardless of whether you're a Traitor or a Faithful".

"It just takes one slip up and you could be gone," he said. "You've got to be so locked in both physically and mentally."

Ben

A man smiling ahead, wearing a brown t-shirt and jacket.
Ben. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 66

Job: Retired

Location: Hampshire

Ben was "intrigued" after watching The Traitors, having never seen anything like it.

"I was taken in totally and kept saying it's like Columbo and Agatha Christie looking for Judas Iscariot."

James

A man looking ahead with his head slightly turned.
James. BBC/Studio Lambert/Cody Burridge/Matt Burlem

Age: 38

Job: Gardener

Location: Weymouth

James didn't start watching The Traitors until the second season "because people nagged [him]".

He has a desire to play the game well, and is joining the show "with a passion for the game and sort of geeky vibes".

"It's like a beautiful lovechild of Midsomer Murders and poker," he said.

The Traitors season 4 begins on Thursday 1st January 2026 at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Seasons 1-3 are available to watch on iPlayer.
