Matthew may have chosen to be a Traitor to start with, but his status in the castle could be changing very soon.

In tonight's episode (9th January), a handful of Faithfuls got the chance to ask two questions to the Traitors and Matthew used his question to his advantage, and struck up a deal.

The 35-year-old was keen to find some trust between him and the Traitors, asking them to prove themselves to him by murdering Jessie when they next get the chance and then recruiting him afterwards.

In true Traitors fashion, the episode ended on a cliffhanger, and fans will have to wait until next week to find out how his fate plays out.

As the series continues, read on to learn more about The Traitors season 4 contestant Matthew.

Age: 35

Job: Creative director

Location: Edinburgh

Matthew is a 35-year-old creative director living in Edinburgh and is admittedly rather competitive.

He is headed into the game to win and is keen to be a Traitor as he thinks that he can stay true to his own values whilst still playing the game.

"I'm a good person, and in normal life, if I saw someone on trouble on the street, I would be the first person that would step in to help them," he said.

"However, this is a game and I'm very capable of compartmentalising, so if I must get rid of someone because that's what the game's saying, I won’t think twice about it, I'll just do it."

Why did Matthew apply for The Traitors?

Matthew applied for The Traitors because it's an adventure and it seemed like fun.

He added: "My New Year's resolution was to have more adventures, and what I meant by that was more hiking, canoe trips, and camping, that sort of thing, but I've watched The Traitors and absolutely loved it, so I just thought why not give it a go."

Is Matthew from The Traitors on Instagram?

He certainly is, and you can follow Matthew on Instagram @yermatty.

The Traitors season 4 continues on Wednesday 14th January at 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Seasons 1-3 are available to watch on iPlayer.
