"I want to win. So I’m in it to win it 100 per cent," Afton said. "Whenever I do anything I put 110% in and my goal is to be the best and do my best. I don’t see the point in doing it without striving to be the best, or my best at least. I want to win and I also want to experience things I’ve never done before and I know that’s going to happen. I’m very excited to see a new place. I’ve never been to New Zealand. I think this will be an incredible learning opportunity for me."
Some may also recognise Afton as the daughter of writer and TV personality Gillian McKeith.

Dockers

Age: 36
Location: Hull
Job: Senior construction manager
Dockers is ex-army and a senior construction manager who believes his "mentality" will be his biggest strength in The Summit.
"I believe I have the ability to switch off. When I say switch off I mean I can zone everything out and just keep on going," he said.
"When I’m tired, hungry, I know what my body is capable of doing because I’ve done it. So now it’s time to see if I can still do it. I’ve got a very good little life now, where I eat very nice food, don’t do too much exercise, I live in a nice house, it’s warm… so I’ve tasted the good life. Is it going to be harder for me now as I’ve been out of the game for so long? I don’t think it will. You can take Dockers out of the army but you can’t take the army out of Dockers."
Drew

Age: 32
Location: North London
Job: Project manager
Drew is hoping to inspire others as he pushes himself to his limits and show people that "if you put your mind to something you can certainly do it".
"It’s definitely the biggest challenge I’ve ever put myself forward for," he said. "I’ve ran marathons and done an iron man, but nothing like this before."
Jenny

Age: 46
Location: Peterborough
Job: Sales and marketing manager
Jenny is a sales and marketing manager from Peterborough who was keen for a challenge that would push her.
She explained: "I’m a bit of an 'almost there' kind of person. There’s something out there that I can be the best at. That’s where it's come from. I want to achieve and explore and do something that really challenges me. I want to push myself to my limits."
She is hoping to achieve to try and value herself more, adding: "I think I’ve got doubters out there and I want to show them. To show, I can achieve things. You’ve gone your way, I’ve gone mine. I know I can do these things, I’ve got to stop doubting myself. Believe in myself as much as so many people believe in me."
Joel

Age: 35
Location: Loughborough
Job: Mentor/Sports coach
Joel sees himself as "a very capable person" and wanted to meet people and be part of their journey "to do amazing things".
"And I thought that this would be a good place for me to get some healing, to help people and to be a blessing to others," he said.
Miranda

Age: 50
Location: Northampton
Job: Publican
Miranda is the owner of two pubs, who is always looking to push herself and find the next challenge in life.
"It's what drives me really. To do something completely out of my comfort zone," she said. "I also think I will surprise a lot of people. I have done a lot in my life and want to show people I am far more capable than they give me credit for. I’m 50, and I’m not ready to slow down."
Patrick

Age: 24
Location: Milton Keynes
Job: Content creator
Patrick is a content creator, a job he has been doing full time for over a year, allowing him to leave his nine to five.
"This is a once in a lifetime opportunity," he said. "I feel like it follows down the path that I am going down, as I want to put myself out there more. I want people to get to know me more and get to know who I am."
Sean

Age: 25

Age: 31
Location: Manchester
Job: Social media influencer
Tara is a social media influencer who has never thought of doing something like The Summit, but is ready for the challenge.
She added: "I am at that age now where things have gotten a bit boring. My idea of fun is sat at home watching a film with the cats. That’s my idea of fun. So the more I thought about it, I thought things like this are good for you in life as it shows you how resilient you can be. I wanted to challenge myself and see how I’d get on. It’s once in a lifetime."
Thomas

Age: 29
Location: Winchester
Job: Tour guide
Thomas is a tour guide from Winchester who wants to take on the challenge of The Summit because he feels he has "a few things I need answered about myself".
He said: "Can I conquer my fear of heights, am I willing to push myself after I’ve thought I’ve gone far enough and to experience something I’ve never done before?"
Tyra

Age: 24
Location: London
Job: England football scout
Tyra is a football scout for the England women's team, and was interested in doing something new and different.
"My life revolves around helping others a lot and being first in their world, supporting them. It’s a very lonely job," she said.
"I go out to the jobs and watch football. I love watching football, don’t get me wrong, but you’re alone with your notepad. I don’t really have time for myself. So this will be a time for me to find me, and express myself in different ways."
Warren

Age: 52
Location: London
Job: Ordained minister
Warren is an ordained minister, but some may recognise him from Gladiators, which he described as "the ultimate challenge".
Asked for why he wanted to take on "an adventure of a lifetime" like The Summit, Warren said: "Many reasons. I believe that life begins at the end of your comfort zone and I think if your comfort zone is not expanding, then it’s shrinking. I don’t believe in living a life of fear and so I think we do need to challenge ourselves.
"I’m on a massive adventure. I came to faith 10 years ago and everything changed for me. Everything I consider or do I pray about. I ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate that and I feel this could be an opportunity from God and an opportunity to grow closer to God. Gladiators was the ultimate challenge, but when I was told this will be an adventure of a lifetime, my ears pricked up. Plus, you’re going to be at your worst… I want to test the mettle."
The Summit begins on Tuesday 10th February at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
