Who won Last One Laughing UK season 2?

Last One Laughing UK season 2 began with 10 comedians and they all had just one job: don't laugh!

As audiences reached the final episode today (2 April), just four comics remained in the race to become the winner, but it was by no means an easy feat.

David Mitchell, Mel Giedroyc, Sam Campbell and reigning champ Bob Mortimer remained in the running, and with just 40 minutes left, host Jimmy Carr announced they were now in sudden death, meaning whoever laughed next would be handed the red card.

But for David Mitchell, he got the last laugh and was crowned the winner of Last One Laughing UK season 2!

"That was quite insane because I think we disappeared into a place where there was no laughter," David said following his win.

He added: "I have to say, for all the bleakness at the end, I am delighted to win and I think that shows a want of character in me, but I was very pleased."

The final 40 minutes were a tough one, especially when Mortimer returned with his laptop and sung a rather lovely ballad to David Mitchell, who managed to not break!

But David Mitchell gave the other comics a run for their money as he performed a stand-up routine before showing Mortimer and Giedroyc a variety of luncheon meats on his phone, to which Mortimer said perhaps the funniest quote of the series: "I am so intimately involved with luncheon meats and spams."

Soon after, the competition ramped up, as Giedroyc and Mortimer went head to head, performing animal noises including a flamboyant frog, but it was a randy dolphin that sent Giedroyc packing.

And it wasn't long until Mortimer's crown was taken when Mitchell made him giggle by telling him: "I was just chadwicking!"

That left just David Mitchell and Sam Campbell in the running to be named the champion – and with just one minute left, they still hadn't made the other laugh, meaning it was time for the tiebreaker.

It was revealed that the player who made the most people laugh would be crowned the winner and across the six hours that was none other than... David Mitchell!
