Carol Kirkwood: You get possessive of your Strictly pro
The BBC weather woman, who is teamed with Pasha Kovalev, says it’s “strange” how strong a bond you form with your dance partner
I’ve often wondered whether the celebrities taking part in Strictly Come Dancing find it strange when their professional partners team up with other pros for the opening dances. And according to BBC weather woman Carol Kirkwood – who this year is dancing with Pasha Kovalev – they really do...
“Yes, it’s like 'get off him!' You get quite possessive of your pro,” Kirkwood told RadioTimes.com, adding with a laugh, “You’re like, 'get back over here.'”
Turns out it can work both ways, too...
“It is really strange. But they’re a bit like that with us,” she continued. “Pasha and I were having lunch the other day and he’d gone for a couple of minutes and lovely Daniel [O’Donnell] had joined me. Pasha came back and said, ‘What’s going on here? I can’t leave you alone for a minute.’ A lot of that was in jest of course. But you really form a tight bond with your dance partner. You’re with them all of the time.”
It’s not just the professionals the celebs bond with either. Kirkwood explained that a shared sense of anxiety means the connection with the other contestants is probably even stronger.
