Lena Dunham fans have been swept off their feet by the writer-director's latest comedy series Too Much, which follows the whirlwind romance between American Anglophile Jess (Megan Stalter) and British musician Felix (Will Sharpe).

The 10-part first season charts the ups and downs of their early relationship, including some heartwarming moments of intimacy and some cringe-inducing chaotic missteps, all of which is set to an appropriately varied soundtrack.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Dunham revealed that her longtime friend Taylor Swift actually advised on which of her songs should be featured at a pivotal moment in the season finale.

She explained: "It was actually originally going to be a different tune... Taylor actually watched the scene and suggested that this one would be right – and we didn't even have to change a detail, we just laid it in and there it was because that's how her brain works.

"So, I feel so lucky and it's one of the most emotional moments of the show for me."

Read on for a full breakdown of the Too Much soundtrack, including an episode-by-episode song list and details on the original compositions, as the series continues its successful run on Netflix.

Who wrote the Too Much original score?

In addition to a number of popular licensed tracks, Netflix's Too Much also features original music composed by Luis Felber, who was the initial inspiration for the character of Felix (played by Will Sharpe).

Co-creator Dunham has hastened to add that she and her now-husband differ from Felix and Jess (Megan Stalter) in major ways, while addressing the extent to which Too Much is a true story.

She explained to RadioTimes.com: "It was an interesting melding where, of course, there were starting points of emotions or things I'd experienced, but then I really wanted to write to... what I think that they can do.

"At this point, the characters [of Jess and Felix] have so profoundly shifted, although people do say sometimes that, watching it, they do have a touch of us when they're interacting."

Other artists to contribute original recordings to the Too Much soundtrack include Waxahatchee, who performed a cover of The Fray's You Found Me, and Misty Miller, who previously worked with Dunham on her 2022 film Catherine Called Birdy.
