Frankie Muniz reveals if Malcolm in the Middle will return again as revival ratings confirmed
"If people love it, maybe."

Creator Linwood Boomer and star Frankie Muniz have revealed the door isn't closed on a potential second season of Hulu’s revival of Malcolm in the Middle.
The reboot of the beloved Fox sitcom – which is subtitled Life’s Still Unfair – has been billed as a limited series of only four episodes.
But in a new interview with TVLine, star Muniz and creator Linwood Boomer revealed there remains a possibility of more episodes.
"For now it is," Boomer said when asked if the series is a one-and-done event, before continuing: "I'm an old man. I'm very tired, but it was such a great experience, and I think creatively, it really worked. So, you never know. I don't think it would have happened the way it happened if the idea was to do an entire series again."
Muniz added that the likelihood of further episodes could come down to the show's popularity, saying: "I'll say this: I would love to be Malcolm again. [However,] the intention of this was just these four episodes.
"I don't think it was made with the intention of being a test or that more could come from it, but you never know what will happen. If people love it, maybe."
He continued: "Originally, it was written as a movie. It would start and an hour-and-a-half later it would end and that would be it. But we're calling it four episodes. It's one storyline that goes over those four episodes. That was the [only] intention of filming this."

Fans could be in luck then: the four-episode revival, which premiered on April 10, hit 8.1 million views globally in its first three days of streaming, according to Disney, becoming Disney+ and Hulu’s most-viewed season premiere of 2026 so far.
Life's Still Unfair reunites the core cast and introduces a new generation, revolving around Malcolm – now a father himself – as he attends his parents’ 40th wedding anniversary and is forced to introduce his new family to his old one.
Returning cast members including Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek and more.
