A whopping 13 years after its predecessor landed, the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream release date is now almost upon us!
Plopping a bunch of Miis on an island and watching them do whatever it is that Miis do, it's like The Sims, but taken in an unmistakably Nintendo direction.

When is the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream release date?
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will release on 16 April 2026.
The game was first announced during the March 2025 Nintendo Direct, coming as a very pleasant surprise to fans of the series.
In fact, fans were so excited to see the return of Tomodachi Life, that its announcement on X by Nintendo of Japan received more likes than the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2!

Can you play Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream on Nintendo Switch 1?
Yes! Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream will be releasing on the Nintendo Switch 1.
In fact, like a few games during this strange switchover period, the game is actually releasing specifically as a Switch 1 title, and will not have its own dedicated Switch 2 version.
Of course, like any Switch 1 games, it will be playable on the Switch 2 thanks to the console's backwards compatibility.
