If you've been playing Dead Take, you will have noticed there are quite a lot of familiar faces in the latest game from Surgent Studios.

The game's creative director, Abubakar Salim, is recognisable for his role in House of the Dragon, and he's also won acclaim in the gaming world already this year — his previous game, Tales of Kenzera: Zau, picked up the Game Beyond Entertainment gong at the BAFTA Game Awards 2025.

Salim and his team clearly have a fully stuffed Rolodex, as they've pulled in loads of stars from the gaming world to grace this new horror experience with their screen presence.

With the game having fully live-action scenes, it's more than just voices you'll be recognising as you play! Keep on reading and we'll run through all the key players.

Dead Take cast: Full list of actors

Below are all the actors who make up the cast of Dead Take. It’s a fairly glitzy roster, with plenty of names, voices and faces you’ll recognise.

The list is split into the main cast and cameos, with the cameos, in particular, proving a lot of (scary) fun as you see them pop up!

Main cast:

Cameos:

  • Laura Bailey as Zara Good
  • Sam Lake as Frank Gardeu
  • Matthew Mercer as Film Man
  • Travis Willingham as Harry Dufresne
  • Connor (CDawgVA) Colquhoun as Carlile
  • Dana Thompson in various roles
  • Alix Wilton Regan in various roles

It's also worth noting that the game's creative director, Abubakar Salim, although he doesn't seem to have credited himself, does have a voice in the game. Unless we need our hearing checked, that is!

Where do you know the Dead Take cast from?

From just about every game you love, it seems! The star-studded cast has been seen and heard across a wide number of games, shows and films.

Neil Newbon is Chase Lowry

Neil Newbon is known best for his portrayal of the sassy fan-favourite vampire Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3. That’s by no means his only big role, as he gave voice to Karl Heisenberg in Resident Evil Village and most recently Lumacchio in Lies of P: Overture.

Newbon also lent his voice to the fan-made mega mod Fallout: London, but only after the developers realised he had emailed them two years prior!

If you're a fan of Neil Newbon, check out our Arcade Hang interview with the man himself.

Ben Starr is Vinny Monroe

Ben Starr got his big gaming break as Clive Rosfield in Final Fantasy 16 and has gone on to be a part of multiple projects, such as playing Verso in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Khazan in The First Berserker: Khazan and Prometheus as Hades 2.

On screen, Starr played Dr Christopher Priestley in the Sky series Jamestown, which Surgent Studios's lead Abubakar Salim also had a role in!

Recently, and perhaps arguably his finest role to date, Starr has brought Balatro mascot Jimbo to life, and done some very interesting things with a banana.

Jane Perry is Lia Cane

Jane Perry, if you’re a fan of the Hitman series, has told you to commit terrible crimes, as Perry plays Agent 47's handler, Diana Burnwood.

They also portrayed Selene, the protagonist of Housemarque's Returnal.

You might also have seen Perry as Mrs Vaughan in Phantom Thread, or as Margaret Cunningham in Sky’s Devils.

Alanah Pearce is Victoria Case

Alanah Pearce played Lana Prince in Cyberpunk 2077, a character that protagonist V interacts with after finding them in possession of their old car.

Depending on what dialogue option you chose, you may have said some mean things to Pearce. Pearce is also a familiar face from the gaming media world.

Laura Bailey is Zara Good

Laura Bailey is best known for voicing co-protagonist Abby in The Last of Us Part 2. Bailey also voiced Mary Jane Watson in Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Outside of games, you may have heard Bailey lending their voice to The Legend of Vox Machina as Vex’ahlia.

Sam Lake is Frank Gardeu

Sam Lake is best known as the Creative Director of Finnish Studio Remedy Entertainment, which has produced a long list of gaming hits, such as Max Payne, Alan Wake, Control and Quantum Break.

Lake lent his likeness to the player model for Max Payne in that iconic franchise’s first game. If you’ve played Alan Wake 2, you would also recognise him as the hardboiled detective Alex Casey.
