The Holiday director had no idea Christmas classic was being remade into a TV series
Nancy Meyers said reports of a reboot were "news to me".

Filmmaker Nancy Meyers has revealed that reports her 2006 Christmas classic The Holiday is getting a TV reboot came as a surprise to her.
News of an Apple TV+ series based on the popular romcom was broken by Deadline over the weekend, with the publication reporting that the new show would have the same premise as the film but brand new characters.
But it seems that Meyers – who wrote, directed and produced the original – was not consulted on the project.
"News to me," she wrote Instagram Story, adding: "Imagine my surprise when I opened Instagram and this was the first post I saw."
The initial reports about the show had already made clear that Meyers was not creatively involved in the project, but the fact that she wasn't even informed about it will no doubt come as a surprise to many.
Krissie Ducker, who previously wrote the 2024 series Sweetpea starring Ella Purnell, will be penning this new series while comedian and Catastrophe co-creator Rob Delaney will reportedly be serving as a consultant.

No casting decisions have been made yet, but they'll be hard-pushed to top the star-studded line-up of the original film, whose four leads were played by Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Jack Black.
The Holiday was a huge commercial hit on its release, and despite a somewhat lukewarm critical reception – it currently sits on just 51 per cent on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes – it has since gone on to be regarded as a staple of festive film viewing.
