Emma Stone and Timothée Chalamet break Oscar records held by Hollywood legends with 2026 nominations
The duo were nominated in the Best Actress and Best Actor categories respectively.

The Oscar nominations for 2026 have now been announced, and it turns out to have been a big record-breaking year - and not just for Sinners.
While that film notably broke the record for the number of nominations for a single film, with 16 nods in total, Emma Stone and Timothée Chalamet have also broken records, as they picked up nominations for their work in Bugonia and Marty Supreme, respectively.
In being nominated in the Best Actress category, Stone, at the age of 37, has become the second-youngest person, and the youngest woman, to accumulate seven nominations. Walt Disney reached that number of nominations at the age of 34, but up till this point, Meryl Streep held that record for women, achieving it at the age of 38.
As Stone was a named producer on Bugonia, and the film was nominated for Best Picture, she has also became the first woman to be nominated twice for producing and acting in a single film. She also did so for her work on Poor Things, while Frances McDormand was the first woman to do it once, for 2021’s Nomadland.
Meanwhile, at the age of 30 Chalamet has become the youngest male actor to earn three acting nominations, having done so for his roles in Call Me by Your Name, A Complete Unknown and now Marty Supreme.
He is also a named producer on Marty Supreme, which is nominated for Best Picture, and thus becomes the youngest person ever to be double-nominated for producing and acting in the same year. The previous record holder was Warren Beatty, who was also 30 but a number of months older. He held the record for 58 years, having secured it with 1967's Bonnie and Clyde.
In the Best Actress race, Stone will be going up against Jessie Buckley for Hamnet, Rose Byrne for If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, Kate Hudson for Song Sung Blue and Renate Reinsve for Sentimental Value.

Both Stone and Chalamet's films, Bugonia and Marty Supreme, are among the 10 nominees for Best Picture, with the other films being F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, Sinners and Train Dreams.
The 98th Academy Awards will take place on Sunday 15th March.
