This nimbly plotted sequel to 1948's Fly Away Peter sees the four Hapgood siblings, having flown the Streatham nest, returning to their parents' new, downsized abode in Dorking. The story sees youngest child Myra (Pamela Bygrave) attempting to reunite her sister Phyllis (Dorothy Primrose) with Phyllis's husband (Patrick Holt) after a misunderstanding over a Norwegian secretary. But Myra's efforts almost backfire when her own spouse (an amiably doltish Peter Hammond) becomes accidentally smitten during a ruse. It's a pity the original ensemble couldn't have been reassembled, as Bygrave doesn't quite have the impish zest previously brought to her role by Margaret Barton. But with an unwanted lodger, bawling babies and a giant mutt named Tich all adding to the chaos this is still a perfectly amusing insight into how we once lived and how families haven't really changed at all.
