A brother and sister discover a vessel adrift in the English Channel, and try to solve the mystery of the crew's disappearance. Thriller, starring William Lundigan and Naomi Chance
Spooky goings-on at sea are investigated by American crime novelist William Lundigan in this melodramatic thriller set in the English Channel. The crew of a damaged yacht send out a distress call after running into choppy waters, but the rescue mission becomes a puzzle when all on board disappear before the vessel reaches land again. High readings of radioactivity on the boat intrigue the writer, aided by the Brit brother and sister owners of the boat (Vincent Ball and Naomi Chance), leading to suspicions of sinister activity by foreign powers. Director and co-writer Vernon Sewell concocts a solid but underwhelming mystery, with a dash of science fiction, setting most of the action on his own yacht. The introduction of a plot twist involving gamma rays and possible atomic weaponry doesn't quite come off, while the performances are routinely flat and nowhere near as dramatic as the shots of the angry waves.
