Our Score
In this animated comedy from the directors of The House of Magic, a teenager discovers his dad is actually a mythic hairy hominid. Although it won't cause any sleepless nights for the major animation studios, it's a fun confection for slightly older kids, even if it opts too readily for the twin cartoon dependables of frenetic abandon and cute, talking animals. Faced with the onset of a very odd puberty, bullied high-school kid Adam discovers that the dad he thought dead is, in fact, alive and Bigfoot. Reunited in the forest where dad now dwells, and with the boy showing Bigfoot tendencies, too, both find themselves hunted by a baddie in the hair-growth business, who desperately wants to unlock the secret of their hirsuteness. It's all nicely computer-generated, and perfectly watchable. There's just a nagging feeling that a rather better, less formulaic film could have been made of such an engaging idea.
