Review

A star rating of 3 out of 5.

This bloody, gag-filled sequel finds dim-witted hockey brawler Doug Glatt (Seann William Scott) sidelined for the season, and asking himself what he really wants after the man who injured him takes his place in the team. Comedy sequels can be a dangerous thing, as too often there is nowhere new to go. This one hits beats familiar from the original film but is also novel enough to keep things entertaining. Scott is as charming as he was before, though this time his one-time rival Liev Schreiber is coaching his comeback. There's also value in the support cast, particularly T J Miller's loose-cannon TV broadcaster. The humour may be crass, and the fights may be gory, but somehow it all pulls together. If you're looking for innovation you've come to the wrong arena. What Last of the Enforcers is about is taking likeable characters and creating an enjoyable excuse to spend more time with them.
