Western starring Phil Carey.
Western starring Phil Carey.
This quickie western from the hugely prolific B-movie director Fred F Sears (Rock around the Clock) is distinguished by its empathy for a Sioux nation displaced when Nebraska became a state in 1867. After saving his scout, Wingfoot (Maurice Jara), from internal tribal retribution, US Army officer Wade Harper (Phil Carey) takes him back to his base for some white man's justice. However, a vicious murderer (the reliably menacing Lee Van Cleef) breaks out of jail and flees along with Wingfoot, with a furious Wade on their tail. The rest of the film, originally shot in a crude 3D, is a typical but frantic series of wham-bam confrontations and knife-edge rescues with a little romance thrown in, courtesy of Roberta Hayne as Wade's ex-showgirl paramour. Eagle-eyed viewers will spot The Lone Ranger's Tonto, Jay Silverheels, as a Native chief out for revenge.
