A dream move to a farmhouse in Scotland turns into a nightmare for an English couple, in this watchable if unexceptional thriller. Pollyanna McIntosh (The Woman) and Lee Williams play the unsuspecting lovers whose rural idyll is shattered, initially by spooky nocturnal sounds but then later by a more tangible and dangerous presence. It's nicely shot and efficiently directed by Simeon Halligan, who delved into night-time woodland terror with his 2008 debut feature Splintered. However, once what's really menacing the frantic pair is revealed, much of the film's suspense is dissipated. Also, similarly themed tales such as Them, You're Next and The Strangers have set the bar high for tension, leaving this perfectly adequate offering struggling to compete.
