It almost looked like Louis Walsh was going to leave X Factor last year after ten years with the show, but he’s back and he wants it to be “the biggest show on TV”.
Walsh is a “team player” he insists when asked which judge he thinks might scoop the glory this year. It’s all about finding the talent, “We have been told to find stars. Proper stars.”
But he’ll still have a giggle. A bit of an X Factor favourite among the judges is to throw water at each other when they want to get their point across. Simon Cowell and Louis himself have both been soaked by former judge Sharon Osbourne in their time. The practice even crept into Britain’s Got Talent this year, with Alesha Dixon drenching David Walliams for his comments about her singing. So does Walsh think things will go that way this year?
“Would I throw water at Simon Cowell? Well he’d probably melt you know, all that cosmetic surgery he’s had and that new hair,” he tells us on the red carpet at this year’s London auditions. Ouch.
Mr Walsh also isn’t afraid to yell at a crowd if they scream a bit too much…
