It’s Yorkshire Day! But who is Yorkshire’s greatest star?

To celebrate Yorkshire Day (yes, that's a thing), vote for your favourite screen star from God's Own County

It’s Yorkshire Day today, a chance to raise a brew to God’s Own County. And, with film and TV not short of Yorkshire representatives, we thought it was time to find out which Yorkshire star has a special place in the nation’s hearts.

First come the screen Sirs and Dames, the actors who crossed the border into national treasure territory long ago: from Michael Parkinson and Patrick Stewart to Judi Dench.

Then there are those who, despite travelling to all corners of the globe, have still managed to maintain accents thicker than a dry stone wall: Sean Bean, Jim Carter and Geoffrey Boycott all spring to mind.

Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt, One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson and London 2012 golden girl Jessica Ennis-Hill are just some of the stars making up the new guard, up against entertainment veterans Michael Palin, Game of Thrones’s Diana Rigg and Brian Blessed.

Not bad for one historic county, hey? We’ve had to draw the line somewhere, so here are our list of top 30 screen stars born or bred in Yorkshire. Now it’s over to you. Who deserves the title of Yorkshire’s greatest star?
