The X Factor judging panel is still two judges short for this year’s show – and former JLS star JB Gill fancies taking a seat alongside confirmed judges Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole.
JB found fame on the X Factor in 2008 with JLS when the four-piece boy band took second place to Alexandra Burke. The band has since split, with JB making a move into farming. Although it looks like he’s still just as excited about the music industry.
Speaking to RadioTimes.com at last night’s X-Men: Days of Future Past premiere, he says of the remaining judging spots, “They could always pick me.”
JB isn’t the first former X Factor contestant mentioned in the same breath as the judging panel. Olly Murs, who auditioned in 2009, was an early name on people’s lips after he joined Gary Barlow as a guest judge in last year’s series. Having also presented ITV2 spin-off show Xtra Factor, Murs certainly knows his way around the X Factor show.
Murs has said, “I could be the new Louis Walsh”.
Although perhaps Alexandra Burke could be considered the contestant that’s got closest to the job, standing in for a poorly Kelly Rowland on the live shows in 2011.
There is around three weeks until the first filmed auditions are due to start in the intimate closed room format. So it won’t be long until we find out for sure who the panel will be. Perhaps it’s time to give Mr Cowell a call, JB?
