After all the controversy and the acres of column inches dedicated to its content, the once-banned sequel to The Human Centipede took just £942 at the box office over its opening weekend.
The film, which played on ten screens around the country, notched up £349 in preview ticket sales, but failed to tempt even hardcore gore hounds into cinemas.
Its prequel, by contrast, earned £6,145 when it opened theatrically in the UK, despite enduring a similarly limited release.
Overshadowing all comers, The Adventures of Tintin continued to attract money like iron fillings to a magnet, pulling in a staggering £2,199,171 country-wide over the weekend.
