The team behind the decision noted they’re looking for “a clear focus on presenting the very best of contemporary British music to millions of viewers across Europe and beyond” for their next choice.
Spearheading the team behind the decision is UK Eurovision Project Director David May, manager of the UK’s 2022 act Sam Ryder, who came in second in the competition that year, and Andrew Cartmell, Executive Producer and Head of Delegation for the UK.
“We intend to be represented by an outstanding current British act, backed up by the very best songwriting and production talent the UK music industry has to offer,” May said.
“We are looking for an act with tried and tested live performance experience and a song crafted in the UK by the very best home-grown talent.
“I saw first-hand in 2022 what one performance at Eurovision can do for an artist’s career. The opportunity is still very much there and it’s time the United Kingdom reached the top of the Eurovision scoreboard once again.”

The team are looking to impress the 160 million viewers set to watch the show after last year’s entrant, Look Mum No Computer, came in last place with just one point for his synth-infused track, Eins, Zwei, Drei.
Remember Monday and Olly Alexander, who represented the UK in 2025 and 2024 respectively, also ranked low on the scoreboard after they both received zero in the public vote, but were saved from the bottom by contest jury votes.
The 2027 chosen act and song will be announced ahead of the European Broadcasting Union's submission deadline in March 2027.
May and Cantrell will be working in line with the teams of BBC Music, BBC Introducing, BBC Studios Entertainment Production and BBC Entertainment Commissioning to pick both the song and act that will represent the United Kingdom at next year’s contest.

Eurovision 2027 will be held at the Arena Burgas in Bulgaria, maintaining the contest’s long-standing tradition to hold the competition in the previous winner’s country.
Last year, Dara took home the crystal microphone trophy with her track, Bangaranga.
Broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, as well as BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds, the contest will kick off on 11 May, with the Grand Final on Saturday, 15 May 2027.
