UEFA Women's Euro 2025 victory for England wins best overnight TV ratings for 2025 so far
More than 16 million fans tuned in to watch the heroics of Hannah Hampton, Chloe Kelly and the rest of the Lionesses.

England's triumph in the Euro 2025 final last night (Sunday 27th July) has become the most watched TV moment of the year – with more than 16 million viewers tuning in to watch the Lionesses's victory across all platforms.
The BBC has announced there was a peak audience of 12.2 million viewers for the match across BBC One, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website, while a further 4 million fans tuned in to ITV's coverage of the game, according to Broadcast Sport.
Discussing the figures, the BBC's director of sport Alex Kay-Jelski said that the final had been "a landmark moment in sporting history" adding that it was "the kind of moment people will remember exactly where they were when they watched it".
He continued: "The incredible Lionesses took us on an emotional rollercoaster, and millions were hooked on BBC coverage from start to finish – from live streaming post-match analysis to millions following our live page and younger audiences in huge numbers on social media."

The total viewership is up from the 14.4 million viewers who watched the Lionesses previous major final appearance – when they were beaten 1-0 by Spain in the 2023 World Cup.
Of course, this time around it was England who came out on top, with Chloe Kelly striking the winning penalty in a nerve-wracking shoot-out after goalkeeper Hannah Hampton had made two brilliant saves.
The match itself had finished one goal-a-piece after extra time, with Alessia Russo's headed equaliser from a Kelly cross cancelling out the opening goal from Arsenal midfielder Mariona Caldentey.
Meanwhile, the BBC and ITV have confirmed that they have struck a deal to once again share coverage of 2027 World Cup in Brazil, meaning that the biggest tournament in women's football will remain free-to-air int he UK.
