EFL fans will notice something a little different about the kick-off times across the three divisions this weekend.

Starting Thursday evening with Accrington Stanley v Salford City, all 36 Championship, League One and League Two games between Thursday 5th February and Monday 9th February will get under way a minute later than usual.

It's nothing to do with the weather or a minute of silence, but rather a great cause that the EFL is throwing its weight behind.

Battles rage on at both ends of the table in the Championship, League One and League Two, and teams may have a new look to them after the end of the January window, but what is behind the slight delay to fixtures?

RadioTimes.com explains why games across the EFL's three divisions will kick off later this weekend.

Why are EFL games kicking off 1 minute later this weekend?

Every EFL game will kick off a minute later this weekend to raise awareness for the 'Every Minute Matters' campaign.

The campaign, a collaboration between the British Heart Foundation and Sky Bet, with support from the EFL, is aimed at encouraging people to learn CPR in the hope of saving lives.

The original target was to engage 270,000 people by May 2025 but that has been updated to 500,000 by the end of February, which is heart month, and the current total sits in excess of 450,000.

Team captains will also make the heart-hand gesture ahead of games as a reminder to fans to start "show your heart" and start learning CPR, while Sky Bet has committed to donating £1,000 to the British Heart Foundation for every EFL goal scored this month.

A statement on the EFL website reads: "There are more than 40,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK each year, and eight out of 10 of these will happen in the home.

"And tragically, less than one in ten people survive, often because those around them lack the skills or confidence to perform CPR.

"You can 'Show Your Heart' this February and learn CPR in just 15 minutes by searching BHF RevivR or visiting revivr.bhf.org.uk."
